Proact to extend European support agreement

Further confidence in archive and storage specialist Proact has been demonstrated with the extension of an existing support agreement with an international supplier of outsourcing services. The deal is worth at least SEK 13 million.

Proact increases Cybercom storage capacity

Archive and storage specialists Proact have supplied a new storage platform to IT consultancy Cybercom. This new solution means a considerable increase in storage capacity and performance for Cybercom’s systems operation and management business. This deal is being financed by a three-year lease with Proact Finance, and the order is worth a total of SEK 1.75 million.

This new solution will allow Alfa Laval to free up storage capacity and enhance performance in its virtualised server environment. The total order is valued at more than SEK 3 million.

Proact enters into agreement with international IT company

Archive and storage specialists Proact have entered into a three-year framework agreement with a Swedish supplier of IT services with major international coverage. This agreement means that Proact will be supplying network optimisation services and solutions which will permit server consolidation for the company’s businesses in Europe, Asia and the USA.

AMSTELVEEN, 16 July 2009 – A successful cooperation between PROACT, HP and Scholten Awater has realised a professional SAN Storage environment for the VU University in Amsterdam. This IP-based environment increases the scalability of the storage environment for the VU University and at the same time improves its accessibility. Furthermore by implementing this new environment the university ensures it has an automatic failover capability which ensures access to the data even in the event of a serious disaster.

Few organisations archive digital information

Proact Storage Barometer: The majority – 65 per cent – of Swedish authorities and listed companies say they have a policy on how information is to be archived. But at the same time only 22 per cent of organisations have any kind of archiving solution for digital business information. These are the findings of the Proact Storage Barometer*, which aims to find out the extent to which companies and authorities store and archive their digital information.

Proact storage services growing

Archive and storage specialists Proact have enjoyed record results in 2008, with a massive increase in sales. 2008 was the best year ever in the history of Proact – all business areas have grown, and the demand for data storage and backup as services has increased. Proact’s turnover from contracted services was up 13 per cent on 2007.

Gothenburg University buys storage service from Proact

Gothenburg University has chosen to purchase a storage service from archiving and storage specialists Proact. This contract means that Proact will be supplying disk space on a rolling basis and as required, including backups, technical support, consultancy services and operation. This is all included in a package solution whereby Gothenburg University will be paying for the service on a per GB and per month basis. This means that the university does not need to invest in a storage infrastructure of its own, or pay for storage resources they are not using.

Private files burden IT systems for authorities and listed companies

Proact Storage Barometer: Almost half of the authorities and listed companies in Sweden allow their staff to keep private images and files in their IT systems. More than a quarter of these organisations reckon that files belonging to their staff make up 10 to 20 per cent of their total information volumes, causing storage and backup costs to shoot up. These are the findings of the Proact Storage Barometer, which is now being presented for the first time.

Proact’s net turnover was over one billion SEK during 2008

The net turnover for the Proact group during the fiscal year 2008 was approximately 1,040 million SEK, which is an increase with 20 percent compared with corresponding period 2007.
